How to read your Florida fee estimate
Florida vehicle fees fall into three categories: taxes (sales tax, county surtax, documentary stamp), state fees (title, registration, plates), and service charges (HSMV and county processing). Taxes are by far the largest component on a new vehicle purchase.
On a registration renewal, no taxes apply — you only pay the annual registration fee, HSMV service fee, and county service charge.
Source and accuracy: Fee amounts reflect the 2025 Florida HSMV fee schedule as published by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and Florida Statute Chapters 319 and 320. Fees are subject to change by the Florida Legislature. Always verify current amounts with your county tax collector before completing a transaction.
